Journaling- A look into the healing power of journaling

Did you know that journaling about your mental feelings about your feelings is linked to a decrease in mental distress?  Journaling has been used for thousands of years as a support tool for mental wellbeing, it is known, not only to reduce the level of anxiety and stress but it is also a factor in increasing the strength of your immune cells and also it has so many other benefits. Journaling is one of the primary techniques which enable the person to appraise their emotional well-being in a positive manner. 


By writing down what is on our mind and what we are feeling, we can then process that information, lessening our stress levels and documenting our problems which helps us rationalise our issues. Journalling can also influence the state of well-being a person has meaning it improves your wellbeing, according to  MYNDUP studies suggest that people who are regularly journaling are happier and are more mindful of their feelings. Further, journaling is also a kind of therapy that can alleviate anxiety and stress by working out the sources of your worries and fears which can effectively decrease those intimidating feelings of anxiousness and stress.

  1. Buy a journal: Try to pick one that you find appealing, this could make journaling feel like less of a chore while starting off.

  2. Date your entries: This can help you track your emotions

  3. Talk about anything: Express your emotions, talk about your day, remember this is a judgement free zone. If you are stuck you can also find journaling prompts online.

  4. Keep your journal private: This will make your journal feel like more of a safe space

  5. Try to make it a habit: write regularly for best results and to train your brain
